Looking back on history, we find that human beings have suffered from several kinds of natural disasters. Most of these have been biological disastersinfectious diseases to be exact. This phenomenon caused by imbalances in nature, according to the Natural Selection Theory; one who stronger may live longer than one whom weaker (Biology, 2009). Even though medical advances have brought vaccines and other specified cures to fight with most of infectious pathogens, yet there are always new infectious diseases occurring twenty-four/seven worldwide, and the numbers of people who have been killed from infectious diseases are impossibly estimated in simple numbers. Notwithstanding how frightful they are, only two infectious diseases were written in the page on the World history, and recognized as biological disasters are Spanish Flu and Small pox.
Firstly, 1918 Flu pandemic also known as Spanish Flu was an influenza pandemic, having an unknown origin, but getting its nickname from its effect to Spain royal family, and causing the world record of the highest number of deaths by influenza viruses historicallyit is estimated that anywhere from 20 million to 60 million(1918 Flu Pandemic, 2009). This ‘Spanish Flu’ caused by the same parent as H1N1Swine flu, which is now spreading worldwide. Astonishingly, most ‘Spanish flu’ patients were healthy young adults as well as juvenile, elderly and weakened patients that because at that time people had not known how to prevent the spreading of this biological disaster. However, this pandemic lasted only 1 year but it left lots of impacts on the world culture especially the American culture as ‘The Doctor’s son’, a short story written by John O’Hara had mentioned about what were happening at time of this influenza pandemic(1918 Flu pandemic,2009).
Secondly, Small pox is believed to have emerged since 2000 B.C (Small pox, 2009). This infectious disease is able to transmit by touching ‘Small pox’ patients directly and indirectlyusing same contaminated objects or touching the infected bodily fluids.  The numbers of deaths of small pox patients are estimated to be anywhere from 200-600 million (Small pox, 2009). This virus will be growing up in blood vessels in entire parts of the body. As a result, fluid-filled blisters will appear later (Blister, 2009). However, this kind of viruses has been announced to eradicate by the World Health Organization also known as ‘WHO’ in December 1979(Small pox, 2009) after medical advances have brought the vaccines and medicines. And this biological disaster has shocked the memoir of nearly all over the world, they had also killed monarchs, including ‘Siam’ (later known as Thailand) as well.
In summary, we can notice that all infectious diseases are spreading now, they are not new
pathogens, on the other hand, they are as same as viruses in the past decades which has second
wave, causing by imbalances in nature that human beings themselves have done on environmental
resources: green house effect, deleterious water in many rivers and oceans. This way out would be
too late, but we are able to decrease the rate of this process by conservation of every environmental
resource as many as the best we can.
